We made the speakers we wanted.
Because no one else did. That is still the only reason any of this exists.
Started as a rebellion. Stayed that way.
Ex Machina Soundworks started with a problem we refused to accept. The monitors available to engineers and producers, at every price point, asked you to compromise. You learned to work around them. You built mental corrections into your process. You trusted references more than your room. We decided that was the wrong way to solve the problem. So we built something different. Not incrementally better, different in kind. The founding team brought together research physics, DSP, circuit design, and acoustical science alongside three decades of actual recording and mixing work. That combination matters because the person who knows why a driver behaves a certain way and the person who has spent years learning to work around it are finally in the same room. The result is a monitor designed from both ends of the problem at once. The result was a monitor that gets out of the way. No flattery. No character. No house sound. Just the truth of what you made, so you can make better decisions, faster, with no second-guessing. We made the speakers we always wanted. Because no one else did.
Precision is not a marketing position. It is a manufacturing standard.
Every driver is measured individually and every unit is verified against our published tolerances before it ships. The pair you put in your room performs within ±1.5dB and ±15° phase deviation across the full operating range. That is not a rounding error. It is the specification.
East Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
Our facility in East Williamsburg is where design, manufacturing, calibration, and shipping all live under one roof. Keeping the process local is not a story we tell for marketing purposes. It is how we maintain the tolerances that define our products.
Precision. Not Prestige.
Three ideas that inform every decision we make, from driver selection to the copy on this page.
