Quasar
I remember the first time I heard the Quasars. I played John Williams' Jurassic Park theme at theatrical volume. The richness and detail of the low end was unlike anything I'd ever heard. I actually got choked up and a bit teary eyed. Within 2 minutes I ordered 7 Quasars.
Jacob Bloomfield (IMRSV)
Jacob Bloomfield-Misrach spends his days as the team captain behind the boards, assembling dialogue editors, Foley artists and mixers at IMRSV Sound, the Bay Area post house he built out of Berkeley. His sound supervision on Crip Camp carried him to a standing ovation at its Sundance premiere before the film reached Netflix and an Academy Award nomination, and that same instinct for storytelling has since taken him from the A24 and Apple documentary Stephen Curry: Underrated to composing scores for Perfect Sweat and Final Fight. His most recent credit, Deaf President Now!, brought him an Emmy nomination, adding to a résumé that already included MPSE Golden Reel recognition and a Telly Award. He still calls himself a composer first, a habit that started with childhood conservatory training and a set of parents who taught him guitar and piano before he had any idea it would become a career. A pair of quality studio monitors sits in every room he works from, but it is the hundreds of scores, mixes and sound designs he has shepherded that keep directors coming back to him.
